Spice
up your library with some erotic fiction by Pat Califia.
Macho Sluts showcases the best erotic fiction from Pat Califia.
Here she explores S/M fantasy in previously taboo territory: a lesbians
encounter with three gay male cops, a leatherman who loves to dominate
other topmen, an incestuous Victorian triangle, a lucky girl who
gets to take on eight topwomen, and more--even a dash of vanilla. |

A
tale of Love and Vegence, this work of fiction is an erotic work
following the life of Ulrich, a very depressed vampire. Life, as
he experiences it has become drudgery. Nothing gives him pleasure
- even feeding leaves him wanting. One evening, in an unknown small
town, Mary Beth Wolcott reveals herself. Ulric is immediately smitten
and begins a sensual assault that Mary Beth is unable to resist.
Ulric wins her heart and soul and makes her his mortal companion,
renamed Lilith. This is their story.

Not
an introductory text for lesbian lifestyles, Pat Califia's latest
collection of leathery erotica probably has a built-in readership
among aficionados of the S/M underworld. Even those who don't share
her kinks will find her among the most original and skillful writers
in the field, with a flair for gender-bending scenarios and a particular
talent for the one-line putdown--usually of demanding lovers who
can't tell their riding crops from their cats-o'-nine-tails. In
"Too Much Is Almost Enough," a submissive femme dubbed
"Jasmine" by her lover Wolfe is encouraged to share her
charms with Wolfe's friends in a sexual rite of passage. In "Incense
for the Queen of Heaven," a young butch bottom finds solace
in the oddly hairy arms of one of her rejecting lover's previous
cast-offs. As usual, Califia also offers a taste of vanilla in "Frankie
and Johnny," a '50s romance complete with poodle skirt and
slick D.A. No Mercy offers dark and graphic radical sex with a political
subtext and a revealing afterword by Califia. |

Among
the beacons of sex radicalism--alongside Susie Bright, Carol Queen,
Kate Bornstein, and very few others--Pat Califia has been writing
angry, sex-positive essays and politically charged erotica since
the late 1970s. The bulk of her many nonfiction pieces is collected
in this reprint of a book first published in 1994, providing a lively,
informal history of the sex wars of the '80s and '90s--from the
absurd, puritanical Meese Commission Report to the antiporn feminists
to the unexamined attitudes behind the popular Re/Search book Modern
Primitives. The chief apologist for the S/M community and one of
the strongest voices in the anticensorship fight, Califia is at
her best when the subject is closest to home. Her peevish reflections
on the stupidity and political shortsightedness of anti-S/M feminists
and lesbians are a joy to read; you can hear the swish of her whip
and the stamp of her boot heel. With its excellent introduction,
this book should be on the shelf of every feminist, every lesbian,
every sexual adventurer, and anyone who hopes to understand sexual
politics in America. |

Need
help with your riding-crop technique? Wonder how to wrap your husband
like a mummy? Or maybe you caught your girlfriend wistfully eyeing
a pair of handcuffs in a shop window and simply want to know how
to bring up the subject with her. Sensuous Magic has the answers.
Writer, therapist, and sex radical Patrick Califia-Rice has updated
his classic introduction to S/M and power play to embrace couples
of all persuasions and at every stage of experience. Although not
a comprehensive technical guide (you will need a book on rope bondage,
for instance, if you want to learn appropriate knots and techniques),
Califia-Rice's text offers insightful warnings, advice, and commentary,
the kind of guidance you might expect from a seasoned mentor. It
is especially well-suited to daring beginners, who can learn the
basics on safety and communication, while being titillated by more
advanced topics like whip selection and master/slave contracts. |

Speaking
Sex to Power charts Patrick Califia-Rice's provocative views, which
often conflict with not only mainstream society but also much of
the lesbian, gay, and feminist movements. Along with essays on antiporn
feminism, the Bush cabinet, and repression of S/M, Califia-Rice
writes of his decision to undergo a sex change. |

Common
sense has dictated that there are two genders--female and male.
But this perspective is becoming less accepted and making less sense
for many people. Pat Califia's Sex Changes is a frank, forthright,
and sometimes funny challenge to the traditional ideas about gender
and sexuality. Transgenderism is the term used to describe people
who feel they belong to both, or neither, traditional genders. Califia--a
vocal sex radical as well as a therapist--explores the worlds of
biology, sociology, psychology, and politics and comes to the conclusion
that life and personal experience is far more complicated than most
people believe and that the simple two-gender system most people
accept is more harmful that helpful. Clear-headed writing and enormous
empathy for everyone who exists outside of "the norm"
make Sex Changes challenging and vital reading. |
