COCo AGM
Mar 29 @ 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm

This year, our theme is Visions of the Future. Every year, our AGM is an opportunity for community groups to come together, connect, and reflect. This year, amidst political, social, and environmental turmoil, we want to think about how we can creatively imagine a future that is socially just, and where our sector is supporting Quebec’s marginalized communities. As always, we’ll be doing it with a dose of fun– in this case, in the company of space ships, crystal balls, and alien life.

Wednesday, March 29th, 2017
5:30 – 9:00pm
MAI Cafe (3680 Jeanne Mance)
The location is wheelchair-accessible.

Agenda:
– COCo’s Future: Discussion & Talk Back
– Annual Reports (Science Fiction Future Edition!)
– Board Elections

Every year, COCo supports hundreds of community groups across Quebec. COCo’s AGM is your opportunity to meet each other and to play a role in guiding our work. Whether you’re a COCo member or simply interested in hearing about what we’ve been up to this past year, you’re welcome to join us for an evening of great conversations, fantastic company and great food!

Book Launch – Queer Film Classics: Arabian Nights
Apr 1 @ 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Pier Paolo Pasolini’s ARABIAN NIGHTS
A Queer Film Classics book launch
with author Michael Moon

April 1, 2017 – 6PM

Concordia University – De Sève Cinema (LB 125)
1400 De Maisonneuve West

The Concordia University Chair in Documentary Film and in Sexual Representation and the Program in Interdisciplinary Studies in Sexuality welcome author Michael Moon (Professor, Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies, Emory University) for the Queer Film Classics book launch of Arabian Nights.

Moon’s book explores the legacy and context of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s Arabian Nights (1974), in many ways the most optimistic and appealing of the director’s late films, not only in the final explosive phase of his career, but also more broadly in the global history of film spectacle.

*** Arabian Nights (1974, 125 min.) will be screened in full, followed by a discussion with Moon. ***

The Co-op Bookstore will be on hand with copies of Arabian Nights: A Queer Film Classic, which will be available for purchase, along with other books from the Queer Film Classic’s Series.

Michael Moon is a Professor of Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies and the Director of Studies in Sexualities at Emory University. He is the author of Disseminating Whitman: Revision and Corporeality in Leaves of Grass (1991), A Small Boy and Others: Imitation and Initiation in American Culture from Henry James to Andy Warhol (1998), and Darger’s Resources (2012). In addition to LGBT studies and queer theory, Moon’s research concerns modern literature, literary theory, media and mass culture, with a particular emphasis on the cultural production of “outsider” communities.
